Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition

The University of Florida Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition is seeking an academic Transplant Hepatologist to join its established Liver Transplant Program. This is a full-time appointment in the Department of Medicine at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level for a tenure/non-tenure track position. Rank and tenure status will be determined based on education and experience. The successful candidate must have a strong interest in developing an academic career.

Our high-volume center has over 20 years’ experience providing excellent care to patients with complex liver diseases. Since the program’s inception, our team has successfully transplanted more than 2,360 patients with end-stage liver disease. According to the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients July 2022 report, our one-year survival rate is 98.5%, exceeding the national average of 92.14%. Our multidisciplinary approach to patient care draws on the combined expertise of our transplant physicians, transplant surgeons, nurse coordinators, transplant assistants, social workers, financial counselors, transplant pharmacists, immunogeneticists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and psychologists.

Qualifications:

  • Fellowship trained or substantial experience in Liver Transplantation
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Qualify for academic appointment at The University of Florida – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience.

    Geriatric Medicine

    The University of Florida Division of Geriatric Medicine is seeking a board eligible or board certified geriatrician to join our rapidly expanding team. This is a full-time appointment in the Department of Medicine at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level for a tenure/non-tenure track position. Rank and tenure status will be determined based on education and experience. The successful candidate must have a strong interest in developing an academic career.

    The primary duties include inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, with opportunities for clinical research and teaching. Requisite attributes include a commitment to service, a strong sense of teamwork and a desire to train tomorrow’s doctors.

    Applicants must be board-certified or board eligible and eligible for a Florida Medical License. Starting salary is negotiable; commensurate with education and experience.

      General Internal Medicine

      The University of Florida Department of Medicine is seeking physician applicants for two full-time clinical positions within the Division of General Internal Medicine.  The successful candidates will practice as part of an academic group practice providing primary care for a personal panel of patients as well as teaching and supervising medical students and residents in both ambulatory and inpatient settings.   There is a significant emphasis on academic career development within the division with a strong record of development in medical education scholarship and collaborative research.

      The Division of General Internal Medicine is comprised of 40 faculty members and advanced practitioners who together provide comprehensive adult care at over 50,000 ambulatory visits and 10,000 hospital encounters annually.     The Division manages three, modern and highly resourced outpatient practices located in Gainesville, Florida.  Each practice is linked to the same electronic health record system as our hospitals and a highly regarded ambulatory care scribe program is offered for all faculty.   The Division is known for an innovative faculty development program which prioritizes faculty retention, well-being and advancement in academic medicine.   We pride ourselves on being family oriented and leadership in promotion institutional faculty wellness initiatives.

        Hematology/Oncology

        The Department of Medicine is seeking applications for a full-time faculty clinical investigator for the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level. This position seeks an ABIM certified (or eligible) hematologist-oncologist with experience in hematologic malignancies and blood and marrow transplantation and an active interest in the development and conduct of clinical trials.  This individual will have a primarily clinical assignment, but will also be expected to develop, conduct and participate in clinical trials and other collaborative research involving patients with hematologic malignancies, blood and marrow transplantation, and cellular immunotherapy. Our Hematologic Malignancy/BMT/Cell Therapy group is a charter Core Center of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network for 20 years, has been FACT-accredited since 2000, is one of 12 centers in the LLS Beat AML consortium, and has had consistent growth in patient volumes, while achieving superior outcomes. Our group conducts a number of investigator-initiated clinical trials and first in human trials of BMT with dendritic cell vaccines manufactured in our Cancer Center GMP facility.

        The successful candidate will ideally have the training and some experience in developing investigator-initiated clinical trials and interacting with laboratory scientists for translational research.  Resources provided are competitive salary, protected time, and the resources of the Cancer Center clinical research office, which provides study coordinators, regulatory support, and biostatistical support.  We have a culture that strongly supports conduct of clinical trials and we enter nearly 15% of all new patients to treatment interventional trials.
